AMA#4 Recap: “The Strategic Future of Blockchain in Gaming”

Our recent AMA #4 on July 12th, 2023 took us on an insightful discussion into the world of blockchain gaming. We were joined by Frank from Apeiron, Zoey from MetaLine, and our very own Guga from Project SEED. The session explored the transformation blockchain has brought to the gaming industry, the challenges faced by game developers, and bold predictions for the future. Blockchain Technology Changing Gaming Industry
When asked about how the blockchain has transformed the gaming industry, Guga shared his thoughts on non-fungible tokens (NFTs) role in it. It creates a different drive for players to keep coming back to the game and empowered players to own and trade in-game items.
Frank then addressed the challenges faced in gaming, particularly user acquisition. Building a strong community with events and strong partnership become his recommendation strategy to overcome this hurdle.
Web3 Gaming: Community Beyond the Game
When asked about the most important aspect of web3 gaming, Zoey emphasized on building a strong community. A close-knit, supportive group of players means a game with a strong player base, ensuring success in the long run. So it is important to create an engaging and inclusive environment.
Guga added, since Outland Odyssey, the game developed by Project SEED, is free to play, so the inclusivity for everyone to download and play is high. He stated that Project SEED’s next goal is to create an open marketplace and an economy built by and for the players, to create an engaging environment that benefits players.
Guests’ Opinion on the Future of Web3 Gaming
The question progressed to ask the speakers about bold predictions for Web3 gaming in the future. Frank stated that Web3 games will most likely continue being developed. He added that a major game change could happen, resulting in a mass migration from mainstream to Web3 game, though this is a daring and bold claim. Zoey then highlighted how most Web2 game models don’t require transition to Web3 as they generate enough sales. However, older companies like Seal Online and MapleStory are considering reviving their games in Web3 versions, so this might bring in more players into the Web3 community.
